I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Andersoh Sep 22. . I can fly there by myself-no problemm did it 6 months ago to CA, stay at the Embassy Suite and take the shuttle. The Embssy has free breadkfast and dinner and room service. I would sty in my room except to heave eyes done one at a time. but would have no help which is fine with me because I like my own company and feel like my husband would like a break..
The alternative is driving 1600 miles, 3 days , 2 nights with infirm husband and his two dogs which he will not go without. The Econolodge near the airport will accpt pets. I have been talking with Michelle who will decribe the situation to DR. A. Maybe I just should have kept my mouth shut. I am very independant. Tole the one eye not bandaged will be blurry. If I cann't see , I'll bet a few dollars will get someone to take me down to the shuttle bus.
Michelle said it is a lot different than being in your own home with familiar surrooundings.
I really do want to go alone. Anyone good at praying out there? All prayers are acceptable and appreciated. Ann Doyle

Ann, we have told you before and I will tell you again that you should NOT have the surgery done if you are going by yourself. It is an extremely unwise thing to do and I'm sure that Dr. Anderson will not do the surgery if you are there alone.
The only way that I would think that it would work is if you stayed in the hospital at least for a day or so following each surgery. Talk to his staff about staying in the hospital if you are going out alone.
I'm independant also and I'm a nurse and there is no way that I would have this done if I had to go alone. Don't you even think of doing it!

Listen to her and do not go alone unless you can stay in the hospital several days. I had my daughter go with me and I could not have made it without her. The first three days would have been impossible alone. After that I could have managed but thank God I didn't have to do that. Do you have a family member or friend who can pretend it is a vacation to go with you? Wish I could go with you as your private duty nurse!

Ann Delaine is right facing this surgery by yoourself is very tough. Someone has put fresh compacts on your eyes. Finding yoyr way around is tough. You are in my prayers and best of luck to you. The swelling went down about tow weeks after surgery and I didn't need shots under my eyelids for at least 5 weeks. See how we sre all different. You will be amazed at how fast you begin to look niormal. The bruises stay for a while though. Barb

Ann, no doubt you could do this by yourself, but I agree that it would be unwise, uncomfortable and risky. You're on my prayer list that someone can go with you.

Thanks for all your help. Dr Anderson gave me the number of a registered nurse to look in on me.
I have a husband but it would be a 1600 mile trip with 2 ddogs. He doesn't go anywhere without them. Also, he has antiphospholipied syndrome, bad heart and emphasema. He's also had a stroke and he would be more of a patient. He also needs a break from me. He is not a natural care giver but does what he has to do. It just isn't in his nature.
I have two girls who are registered nurses. Each one took care of me at my brain surgery and I was the DRS. worst failure. He has a 95-96% rate of total cure. I am his only complete failure. He was named neurosurgeon of the year in Austria in 2,000 two months after my surgery/ My girls have no faith now in the internet, that's where I found hin. He perfected the procedure and has done more than 5,000. I can't be that unlucky twice can I?
I plan to take the shuttle and use room service and stay in my room. If the shuttle is too diffificult, I'll use a cab.
Things will work out. With my smile (like popeye--thanks to Meige) who could refuse my cry for help. Ann Doyle the eternal optomist.

I worry about you going alone, Ann, but at least you can arrange for a registered nurse to look in on you. You are so determined and positive, I'm sure it will work out - but I know those that have had this operation have great cause for concern. Please make sure you get that nurse to check on you.

I do have a registered nurse. Dr. Anderson would not do it otherwise and I am only going to have one eye done at a time. Thanks for all the responses. Ann Doyle

Dear Ann,

I'm a good prayer, I'll add you to my list. I'm sure you will be fine. I'm still waiting to get an appointment for my first botox shots. By the time they do all the paperwork and go through the insurance company plus the doctor likes to give all his people their shots on the same day I don't know when I'll get it.

Good luck and God bless with the surgery.
My prayers are with you.

Barbara Molnar
