JUST WONDERING HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE HAD SUCCESS WITH THE ABOVE LENSES? Another question do some of you know where they are available in Southern Ontario TO area?
Just thinking it might be something I should consider to make that light sensitivity more comfortable.
Thanks every-one- I do not post too often but always read the forum. Pat in Oakville, ON

Pat,

I have been using FL-41 glasses for two years. I wear a hybrid FL-41 at 20% tint with some added gray tint. I wear these all the time indoors and also outside when it's not too bright. I find them helpful and soothing. I also have a pair at 50% tint but don't use them as much. You'll find a lot of info in the archives on these tinted lenses. There is a lot of misinformation about the proper makeup of the tint and on the makeup of them in general. I would recommend going to the manufacturer web site which gives some answers http://callbpi.com/htm_cat/fl41info.htm. Locally, I called just about every optician and nobody knew what I was talking about or they tried to sell me something that wasn't right. Finally I found a caring person who took this on and has done quite a few for people in the Toronto area. His name is John and works at Hakim Optical in Square One in Mississauga. Hope that helps a bit.

I tried the website but it was a found. Do you have any other way to communicate with the manufacturer.

Thanks,

I got my FL41 glasses from the Eyeglass Factory. Doncaster Ave. Thornhill. Ont. 905-881-1277. The only person there, who knows anything about them is Lorne, so ask for him if you call them. I took an old pair of glasses to him and he put the tint on them. Regards Judy

Hi G'dday from Australia

Thanks to Lesley Reynolds and the Western Australia group who had a pair for me to borrow found that the glasses worked great. My local optometrist tracked down the company in Australia and I orderd a pair.

It is great to be able to try before you buy as from what I read they don't work for all. If groups can get funding they should do the same - have a pair of Fitovers for males and females and ship them around. Had the tint done to 70% which means with our bright sunlight here I can go outside and not have my eyes try to close tight ( botox intervenes thankfully). when I take them off it takes a little while for my eyes to adjust - everything seems white and bleached - so its important not to do this whilst you are driving.

http://callbpi.com/htm_cat/fl41info.htm - this website might give you some info or try BPI FL41 tine in your search engine.

Hope you have the same success as I did

regards
Grant

Hi Zoe,

Not sure if you meant not found? The website seems to come up fine for me. Also, most opticians offices have the BPI catalog, or online link, because BPI is one of the major tint providers to opticians. I've foound local opticians will be responsive if they are pointed at BPI first.

Cheers

Peter

Hi Peter,

I think my computer does not like the site, I still can not get it to pull up. I am sure it is not operator trouble because I copy and paste it.

Thank you for realizing I did mean "not found". Must have been one of those crazy brain eye days when I wrote.

Hi Zoe,

I had the same trouble until I realized the period at the end of the sentence should not have been part of the hyperlink. Try to link from here:

PS for what it's worth, the FL-41's did not help me

I Love my fl-41's...wear them all the time and have found them very helpful for light sensitivity indoors..out doors, I still need really dark sunglasses and have a pair that fight over my eye glasses...which by the way, my eye glasses are just readers...but I found wearing them helps alot with the lights & was told would help my dry eyes by blocking breezes & keeping moisture in & that has been true...Good Luck...Denise G. on the carolina coast.

Hi Pat,

My optician has recently ordered in a bottle of FL-41 tint at my request. I got him to tint my reading glasses at 50%, and I find it reduces the strain quite a bit when I need to read. It's not to the point where I can read for pleasure, but helps a little. Next, he made me a pair of FL-41 sunglasses at 80%, but I don't find they are any better than over-the-counter sunglasses in gray tones.

You can contact Mississauga Optical and ask for Tony (the owner). It's on King Street in Mississauga, just west of Hurontario. 905-275-2400

I like the rose-colored FL41 tint.

I did not like the orange tint at all. Somewhere I read that is not the 'real' FL41 tint, but whether or not it is, I found that wearing that tint was unpleasant.
