I CAN'T USE MASCARA ON MY EYELASHES BECAUSE WHEN MY EYES SQUEEZE SHUT I GET BLACK ALL AROUND MY EYES. I'VE TRIED REG. AND WATERPROOF. I WONDER IF LATISSE WOULD AT LEAST MAKE ME LOOK LIKE I HAVE LONG FULL EYE LASHES WITHOUT MASCARA. |

Hi ladies -
I googled Latisse - it sounded familiar. Here it is: "Latisse is a drug currently promoted by spokesmodel Brooke Shields that is applied to the base of eyelashes to generate longer lashes. Latisse keeps hairs in their growth phase, producing longer, darker and thicker eyelashes. Latisse is a lower concentration of the drug Lumigan. Average cost of Latisse is $130. Latisse eyelash lengthening is not permanent. Possible side-effects include discoloration of the eye or eyelid." Then I remembered discussing it with my 48-year old daughter. She wanted to try it but was concerned about losing the color of her gorgeous hazel eyes. I said "don't you dare!" Personally, with BEB, I find the use of any cosmetics difficult. I'm 72 years old, but still care about how I look when I dress up and go out. (When I'm hanging around the house, or running to the store in sweats, no problem.) What I do is use subtle color or smoke in the crease under the brow and a smudge of color/smoke under the eye. It looks pretty OK. I leave the lashes alone. I also find that eye make up remover and eye wrinkle creams sting my eyes, especially after I've had Botox. (I used to just slather the stuff on but can't anymore.) I use Q-tips and take great care not to leave anything on that might travel to the eyes. Marcia |

I have been interested in latisse. I am 39 and Hate that I can not wear mascara. What I have found is that I can use an eye lash tint and then use a dark brown eye shadwo at the base of my eye lashes - it really opens my eye up - I mean to say that they look more open - not that they realy HELP me. Also, I have started to define my brows which just frames everything nicely - it is the best routine I can come up with - PLEASE if anyone has suggestions I would love to hear them - I am to much of a girly girl to go without makeup - but I will not do anything that hurts my eyes. |

I personally would not use it due to the possible side-effects. But then I don't bother with mascara or any makeup anymore due to the increased problem that it causes with my eyes. It was tough to give those things up in the beginning but I don't worry much about it anymore. From the Lattisse website: Possible side effects.
If you develop a new ocular condition (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, have ocular surgery, or develop any ocular reactions, particularly conjunctivitis and eyelid reactions, you should immediately seek your physician's advice concerning the continued use of LATISSE® solution.
